Improved Data Bars in Excel 2010

Excel 2007 introduced using data bars as a method to summarize numerical data. In Excel
2010 data bars have been improved in two ways: 
  • You can choose either Solid Fill or Gradient Fill for shading.
  • Data bars recognize negative numbers.

 
Figure given above shows an example of how the new data bars appear. Rows 4-11 contain gradient shading, and rows 1217 contain solid shading.

I will discuss this feature in details later when I will cover conditional formatting.

  1. Good improvement on Solid Data Bars. However, still looks bad the axis values overlaped by the bars. Should be more flexible….
    Nice Icon Sets. All the improvements in the CF are more than welcome!! Very used feature by all…
    Reference to data in other worksheets is nice to have but I still think that named range is more professional and I do recommend it as a best practice.

  2. The only small deficiency that I found with the Data Bar is the inablity to adjust the width of the bar.
    If you increase the Row Height then the Data bar widens as well…
